What to expect

The Madrid Planetarium opened in 1986 and sits in the Tierno Galván park, in the south of the centre. Its equipment was updated in 2016 and 2017. The core of a visit is a dome where you sit back and watch films about the sky, stars and space, shown on a curved ceiling.

Besides the shows, the lobby has free exhibitions and interactive displays aimed at young visitors, and the park outside has an open-air auditorium where children can play. It is a small, indoor visit that works as a calm break in a busy sightseeing day, particularly with children and when it rains.
