What to expect

The Mercado de San Antón is a covered market on Calle de Augusto Figueroa in Chueca. The market goes back to the 19th century; after the old building was demolished it was rebuilt in 2011 as a modern one and remodelled again in 2021. Its central skylight acts as a photovoltaic collector and the floor is made of reused molten basalt.

The market has three floors. On the first you find stalls selling fresh, perishable produce, plus some places for tapas. The second floor has nine show-cooking and take-away stalls, from traditional Madrid dishes to Asian and Italian food. The third floor is a restaurant with a terrace, 11 Nudos Terraza Nordés, serving seafood and meat dishes with an Atlantic influence. There is free Wi-Fi throughout.
