What to expect

Chocolatería 1902 is a family churrería a few steps from Puerta del Sol, on Calle de San Martín. It was founded in 1902 by Florencio Gorrachategui and is now run by the fifth generation of the family, which presents a visit as taking part in a tradition handed down since then.

The churros are still made by hand, and the shop also makes porras, the thicker version. The chocolate to dip them in is made in the house's own factory from three South American cacaos. Gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan versions exist. There is also a counter inside the Bernabéu market, in the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
